Japan’s famed medicinal liqueur maker, Yomeishu, jumped into the Japanese craft gin scene with an herb-lover’s dream of a gin – using kuromoji, an aromatic shrub native to Japan, as the prime botanical.
Nose: Grassy, herbaceous, like walking in a forest.
Palate: Kuromoji, Juniper, Citrus, Anise, Sweet Spice.
Finish: Long and Rich.

Kanomori means ‘forest of aromas’, and the gin is made with botanicals including kuromoji (which translates as ‘spice bush’), as well as goji berries, mulberries and blackberrry twigs. Judges appreciated its ‘intense’ notes of citrus and spicy juniper, as well as its palate of sweet vanilla spice and anise.
