Grape Varieties: 100 %
Block: Western block, Single Vineyard, Estate Grown.
Wine Making Notes:
We take the simple approach handling the fruit to ensure freshness, texture & depth. We harvest in the cool of night, ferment in open vessels with hand plunging or gentle pumping over to ensure even maceration, press gently, and run to old French oak barrels for natural malo-lactic fermentation – and then a snooze over winter. Bottled in December 2019, we have retained the freshness and aromatic intensity of the grape, while allowing some evolution of the tannins for which it is famed.

Red Wine Australia Pindarie
1 in stock
Pindarie is located at the gateway to the Barossa Valley, on Gomersal Road on the Western Ridge.
A family owned property, with Tony Brooks at the helm after taking over from his grandfather in 1990. Together with Wendy the transformation of Pindarie began.
What was once a run-down & over-cleared farm has become a sustainable and regenerated property with Tony and Wendy planting over 12,500 trees in the last 20 years.
Prior to returning to Pindarie, Tony had jackarooed on a number of Outback Stations around Australia, and studied at Roseworthy Agricultural College, South Australia in 1985. When he graduated he worked overseas managing sheep feedlots in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Jordan. Tony has a strong connection to the land and a passion for renovating old buildings. He believes land must be looked after in a sustainable manner. In his spare time you will find Tony restoring the old buildings on Pindarie, planting trees… He is a man of action who doesn’t really have ‘spare time’.
Wendy was born in New Zealand into a large family on a sheep, cattle and deer farm deep in the South Island. She came to South Australia in 1985 to study Viticulture at Roseworthy Agricultural College where she met Tony. After graduating, Wendy then worked for the next 12 years with the Penfolds Wine Group, starting as a Grower Liaison officer and working her way up to Senior Viticulturist. During her working career, she travelled overseas to California, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and Chile, to conduct study tours and assess vineyards for wine projects. In 2001 Wendy completed a Graduate Diploma in Wine Business.
Pindarie is a beautiful property and home to Tony, Wendy and their three children. Opening the Cellar door has allowed them to share what they love. Historic buildings, meticulously restored, wide open spaces, family friendly, sustainable and the very best grapes they can grow turned into wine.
A fragrant medium bodied wine but with a bit more aging potential than the TSS. Tempranillo has proven its versatility – performing with consistent quality on the Western Ridge.
Undeniably aromatic, with distinctive notes of mulberry and plum, and occasional hints of dried herbs.
This variety also offers a juicy, fleshy yet medium-bodied palate which is oh-so drinkable.
The aim is to showcase the variety’s natural fragrance, generous flavours, and long savoury tannins.
Vintage 2019 is a deeply coloured and standout vintage.
Great drinking all year round, especially with a platter of Spanish or Italian cured meats, good green olives and caper berries, Manchego cheese and crusty bread.
Or rich tomato dishes such as Pizza & pasta.
