Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz
Origin Country: Australia
Region of Production: Barossa Valley (Single Vineyard, Estate Grown).
Wine Making Notes: In 2018 we selected rows from two blocks that ripened similarly and were harvested on the same day.
Each grape batch was fermented, pressed and matured separately in predominantly French oak, of which 25% is new oak (we use 5% American oak each year for length and spice). After two rackings over time to naturally clarify the wines, we selected and blended those barrels that best reflected the season and the vineyard.
After 10 months asleep in oak, we bottle and let it rest again for 24 months before release. 2018 was an exceptional vintage. The annual Barossa Wine Show is the best place for the quality of our wines to be judged against their peers. Our 2018 Western Ridge Shiraz beat all other 2018 Shiraz wines, to be awarded the Trophy for best 2018 Shiraz.
So… we feel justified in telling you that this wine is fantastic!
2018 vintage has proven to be the best of the best comparing with the great vintages of 2016, 2012, 2010 and 2008.

Pindarie is located at the gateway to the Barossa Valley, on Gomersal Road on the Western Ridge.
A family owned property, with Tony Brooks at the helm after taking over from his grandfather in 1990. Together with Wendy the transformation of Pindarie began.
What was once a run-down & over-cleared farm has become a sustainable and regenerated property with Tony and Wendy planting over 12,500 trees in the last 20 years.
Prior to returning to Pindarie, Tony had jackarooed on a number of Outback Stations around Australia, and studied at Roseworthy Agricultural College, South Australia in 1985. When he graduated he worked overseas managing sheep feedlots in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Jordan. Tony has a strong connection to the land and a passion for renovating old buildings. He believes land must be looked after in a sustainable manner. In his spare time you will find Tony restoring the old buildings on Pindarie, planting trees… He is a man of action who doesn’t really have ‘spare time’.
Wendy was born in New Zealand into a large family on a sheep, cattle and deer farm deep in the South Island. She came to South Australia in 1985 to study Viticulture at Roseworthy Agricultural College where she met Tony. After graduating, Wendy then worked for the next 12 years with the Penfolds Wine Group, starting as a Grower Liaison officer and working her way up to Senior Viticulturist. During her working career, she travelled overseas to California, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and Chile, to conduct study tours and assess vineyards for wine projects. In 2001 Wendy completed a Graduate Diploma in Wine Business.
Pindarie is a beautiful property and home to Tony, Wendy and their three children. Opening the Cellar door has allowed them to share what they love. Historic buildings, meticulously restored, wide open spaces, family friendly, sustainable and the very best grapes they can grow turned into wine.
Well balanced, deep purple red, powerfully fragrant with an abundance of fruits: blackberry, cherry, black olive, spices, and a hint of meaty complexity.
A faint aroma of fine toasted French oak barrels.
Gentle yet full-flavoured, it’s young!
Beautiful strong tannins; despite its youth, and with a gentle long palate.
Yes: it will cellar beautifully.
Ideal with a wide range of red meats cuisine, especially dishes with beef or lamb but do not overcook the meats.
